Planting the Seed

I watched The Lorax recently and the main character says "No one believes in trees anymore," and the Once-Ler replies "Then make them believe. Plant the seed. Plant it in the middle of town."

I thought that was really interesting. And can't it apply to other things too? There are people who don't believe in God. But we don't have to accept their disbelief, even though it can be frustrating. Rather, we should spread the Word, and plant the seed. Plant it right where everyone can see it, so that they might believe and be saved.

Does this mean we have to go out into the middle of town and start preaching? No...Not unless God tells you to. But we can talk to people at work, and others we meet. We should read God's Word and apply it to our lives so that the seed takes root and blooms for other people to see through our words, and deeds. Our very lives become "trees" that others can see.

"Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop--some thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times what was sown" (Mark 4:20).

*I encourage everyone to read the full parable in Mark chapter 4.*

  1. What a great way to think about that movie scene. People really do take an example away from our lives even if we don't notice it or think about it. You are definitely planting a tree with this blog! So amazing!
