Capital Matters

Today is just a brief musing. Today, church gave me a lot to think about, but I need time to sort through my thoughts.

Why do we capitalize "He" when referring to God, when it isn't capitalized in the Bible? Is it just a respect thing, or is there more to it?

I don't have an answer. I just wanted to put this out there. I know it's irrelevant in the long list of things we can learn from the Bible, but these are the types of random thoughts I sometimes have.

I don't have a verse to go with this random thought, so I'm just going to pick one of my favorites.

"A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger" (Proverbs 15:1).

  1. What a great thought! I notice some people do it and some people don't. Maybe it is about respect.

  2. Growing up, I always felt uncomfortable if I didn't capitalize it, because that's how I had been taught. Now, I still feel uncomfortable, but I haven't yet pinpointed if it's because I feel it's a lack of respect, or because it's a habit.
