Declaration Six

The point of the 8 Declarations is that we have to be careful of our words and speak only ones that bring life.

Declaration 6: I declare that I will leave a legacy of faith.

What will people say about you when you die? I don't want to be remembered as someone who got rich, and donated a lot of money to get a plaque in my name. (Well, it might be nice to be able to leave a lot of money for a good cause, but...) There are a lot of things I want to do on this earth before I die, but most importantly, I want to live my life serving God. I want to be remembered as someone who loved, lived, and laughed. I want to be remembered as someone who lived in God's light every day, who spread God's love, and always pointed to Him. I want to be remembered as someone who always had time for those I loved. Nicole Nordeman actually sums this all up very nicely:

Matthew 6:19-21 - "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

Declare first that you will serve God; follow through on this promise. Then, make the 6 declarations. Speak these things aloud so that it will travel from your lips to God's ear.
