Today I did something interesting. I washed my clothes in the regular washer, and then I hung them up on the backyard clothesline to dry in the sun. I know. Not very exciting. But I learned a lesson. I think.
I can do it! I can do more than I thought I could. When I first heard that we'd have to dry clothes outside, I thought "Ludicrous! What era are we living in?" Really. I did.
Yet, I was able to do without a fancy modern dryer, and hang laundry the old-fashioned way. It was kind of fun. For now. I'm sure the newness and adventure will wear off fast, but I will still know that I can do whatever I need to do. Sometimes it's not the big things that surprise us, but the little things. Sometimes proving that we can do even the little things is a really good start.
I draw the line at washing clothes the old-fashioned way though...
