At church a while back, a lady came to speak about a mission trip she'd been on, and she said that something it taught her was "how to fall in love with God all over again."
God is meant to be our first love. He's meant to be not only the savior, but also the lover of our souls. His love is so big it can never be measured. We have to love Him, and understand His love before we can truly love anyone else, including ourselves.
So, what she said resonated within me. I, too, want to fall in love with God all over again each and every day. I don't want to end up in a stagnant relationship with God where everything is the same and I take Him for granted like an old married couple. I want to feel the spark, the new love, that I felt for Him at the beginning, every single time He and I meet.
Do you want to fall in love with God over and over again, so that each meeting with Him is like the first time?
But, how do we do that?
I think the key is not to get complacent. We have to read our Bibles every day. We have to immerse ourselves in His Word, as though it's all new, all exciting. It's all in our attitudes. We have to seek God the way we did when we first found Him (or when He found us).
Just like in a human relationship, it takes work. We have to work at being in love with God. We have to actively want to improve our relationship with Him.
Once we do that, we will begin to look for little ways to fall in love with Him all over again each and every day.
