Indescribable

God is so awesome, so amazing. He's...well, He's indescribable. When I try to describe how amazing God is, words fail me. There aren't enough to fully describe all that He is, or how amazing He is.

I first heard Chris Tomlin's song Indescribable in college, and it holds a very special place in my heart, and is one of my favorites, though I don't listen to it as often as I would like.

I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.

"Indescribable. Uncontainable." Two words. So powerful. Words cannot fully describe God. Nothing can contain Him. He is everything, everywhere. He encompasses all. He doesn't fit into religious standards. He doesn't fit into a little box. He is so awesome that we can never fully comprehend all that He is, or all that He does.

Put God First

I recently discovered the blog The Back Pew, and this post really struck home with me.

Many people across the globe have chosen to move away from God, and His teachings. In the Bible, there is clear evidence of what happens when we choose to do that; everything goes wrong, from wars to famines to monetary lack. But when God's people truly put him first, they will begin to see His blessings in their lives, and even in the world around Him.

In the Bible, for the sake of just one faithful man, God's wrath can be turned away. For the sake of just a few truly faithful people, God can and will work miracles, if only we truly believe and put Him first in all that we do.

"With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies" (Psalm 60:12).
"Nevertheless, for the sake of his servant David, the Lord was not willing to destroy Judah. He had promised to maintain a lamp for David and his descendants forever" (2 Kings 8:19).
Abraham talks to God about sparing the city of Sodom if righteous people are there: "Abraham said, 'Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, what if only twenty can be found there?' He said, 'For the sake of twenty, I will not destroy it.' Then he said, 'May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak just once more. What if only ten can be found there?' He answered, 'For the sake of ten, I will not destroy it.'" (Genesis 18:31-32).

God's Beautiful Architecture

My friend sent me this song a while ago, and I love it. It's one I've been meaning to share here, but it got lost in my bookmarks. Oops!

So, today's post is just a song recommendation. I hope you enjoy:

There's a line in this song that I absolutely love. The whole song is great, and I love so many of the lyrics, but this one line: "The wind and rain can't stop this fire," just really spoke to me today. No matter how difficult the storms in our lives, they should never be enough to extinguish the fire we feel when we're praising God. Sometimes, I find that my fire has dimmed, and I'm trying to figure out a way to get it back to where it was. I'm finding that it's all about our hearts, and our mindset, as most things are.

Being Saved

Things that will not save you:

  • Being rich
    • Money of any amount
  • Doing good deeds
  • Following the laws
  • Being a good person
  • Helping people
  • Being religious
Things that will save you:
  • Believing that Jesus is God's only Son and accepting him as our Lord and Savior
  • Inviting and accepting God into our lives, and His will for our lives
    • Being baptized as Jesus was baptized
    • Learning from and obeying God's Word
That's it. This came to me a few months ago, but I couldn't quite put it into words. Finally, I have the words. It's not enough to go to church, be a good person, help people, or do good works. We have to do all of that with our eyes and hearts focused on Jesus with the intent to obey and glorify our Father in Heaven.

Wait, Wait, Wait...We Have to Serve?

To wait on the Lord means to be a waiter, or a servant. Wow.

I had always thought of it meaning waiting for the Lord's timing, and I think in some verses it does.

Psalm 27:14 - Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.

However, I can see how it would also mean to serve God.

Psalm 37:7 - Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.

I think that's really cool!
